TOWN OF AUBURN-- A village of Kewaskum man was killed on Sunday, July 8 after a motorcycle crash. The 39-year-old father of four also had ties to the Beechwood area.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriffs Department responded around 9:39 p.m. to a sharp curve on Highway G, a half mile north of Youth Camp Road. Kewaskum Fire Department and EMS and troopers from The Wisconsin State Patrol also responded. Forest Rangers assisted with traffic.

Sergeant Ryan Waldschmidt of the Sheriff’s Office stated that Michael Buchel, the operator of a motorcycle, had died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Sergeant Waldschmidt reported that evidence at the scene indicated Buchel was traveling south on Highway G and failed to negotiate a curve in the road. He traveled off the west shoulder of the road and struck several trees before coming to rest in a wooded area.

Buchel was not wearing a helmet. Sergeant Waldschmidt announced alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash that remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
